Well, after receiving an e-mail from my webhost about how the version of WordPress they have the auto-install setup for had serious security issues, I decided to check things out for myself. Even though they said I had v. 1.5 I was certain I had 2.0.2 as I had done the install myself. Somehow … SOMEHOW … as if by magic, I had no sooner went out and looked and verified my version and went back to this page you’re on now and it wouldn’t load – no database connectivity. Well there was a good reason for that, that I soon discovered after logging into the database admin program – the friggin’ database was GONE. Oh, Bite My Ass !

But I know good and well if I asked nobody did anything. They never do. Anytime you write with a problem they write back saying they can’t duplicate it and you try again and whatever it is “magically” is working again. C’mon, I’m currently SysAdmin working for WebDev and ex-Network Admin – I know how this crap routine works. Gimme a break ! I really wish I could afford a dedicated server sitting on a nice fat pipe somewhere over in a corner that nobody could touch but me. My life would go much smoother; less stressful without having to deal with idiots.

No sense crying over spilled milk. I would write them and ask them to restore the database but currently my e-mails from my domain account that they host are getting returned as spam; undeliverable. Hmm, a webhost that blocks e-mails from their customer’s domains that they are hosting. If anyone from DreamHost reads this I’m on the verge of dumping these people and heading over to your neck of the woods … posthaste.

So, now you know why there’s no posts from January up until now … my database got blown the feck up ! Ah well, live and learn. Learn to do more frequent SQL backups.
